On July 20th, 2020, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Oceanography and University of Tokyo Institute of Industrial Science sign MOU. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the MOU was signed via letter.

According to the MOU, the two parties agree to implement exchanges and other activities in areas of academic research of mutual interest.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Oceanography and the University of Tokyo Institute of Industrial Science have a solid foundation for cooperation. Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Oceanography (SJTU-SOO), formerly the Institute of Oceanography (IOO), established a cooperative relationship with the Institute of Industrial Science of the University of Tokyo in 2015. Since IOO has been established as SOO, the two parties resigned an agreement to continue the cooperation.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Oceanography participated in the IEEE OCEANS’18 /Techno-Ocean2018 International Underwater Robot Competition held by the Institute of Production Technology of the University of Tokyo and won the championship in the free-style category

Institute of Industrial Science (IIS), the University of Tokyo, is a research institute covering almost all the areas of engineering disciplines. It is mainly located in Komaba, Meguro-ku, Tokyo. Each of more than 120 faculty members. Professors, associate professors and lecturers has his/her own laboratory and more than 1,000 researchers come to IIS from inside and outside of Japan. They are carrying out various research, from fundamental research to applications, which opens future life.
