June 8th is World Oceans Day. On the afternoon of June 8, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Polar Research Institute of China signed a cooperation agreement to jointly build the Polar Ecological Protection Institute.

An appointment ceremony for the director of the Polar Ecological Protection Institute (in preparation) was also held at the scene. Zhou Meng, dean of the School of Oceanography of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was hired as the first director of the institute. Sun Bo and Lin Zhongqin issued letters of appointment to him.
