研究方向与成就

Michael Bender,美国国家科学院院士,普林斯顿大学教授,气候变化研究领域著名科学家。在过去的几十年里,Bender教授引领世界同位素气体含量的分析方法研发和系统集成,并将其应用于冰芯气体分析,从而推算冰川期和间冰川期的温度、二氧化碳含量和生物生产力变化。此外,通过海水气体分析推算初级生产力和二氧化碳通量,为研究气候变化奠定历史和现实基础,同时更好地预测全球气候变化未来发展趋势。

Michael Bender发表论文130多篇,期中包括发表在科学自然期刊上20篇,是气候变化领域的一位巨头。因为他的成就,南极命名委员会将Bender在南极研究的冰川命名为Bender冰川,并获得国际地球化学协会Patterson勋章和美国地球物理协会Revelle勋章。

Bender教授每年将投入50%时间在上海交大工作,建立同位素分析和大洋监测实验室。他将带领我国的科学家们走在气候变化和全球大洋生物圈监测领域的前沿,并融入国际气候变化主流科研团队之中。
